Why everyone keeps coming back.

Nestled in the heart of downtown Denver at 1500 Curtis Street, Sam’s No. 3 stands out as a beloved American diner delivering an unapologetically genuine breakfast and all-day dining experience. This bustling hotspot is a celebration of classic diner fare infused with exciting Greek influences, offering an extensive menu that caters to hearty appetites and adventurous palates alike.

The cuisine at Sam’s No. 3 is a delectable blend of comfort food staples and distinctive Greek favorites. Dive into their delectable Gyro and Eggs, featuring off-the-spit sliced gyro meat layered with fresh red onion, ripe tomato, and creamy tzatziki—a rich, tangy sauce that perfectly balances the savory meat and eggs. For something equally satisfying, the Chicken Souvlaki and Eggs and Pork Souvlaki and Eggs offer seasoned, tender morsels topped with crisp veggies and served alongside that luscious tzatziki dip. These dishes bring a vibrant Mediterranean flair to your traditional breakfast table, making every bite a delight.

On the American front, standout offerings like the Cobb Salad pile turkey, ham, Swiss and American cheeses, boiled eggs, bacon, and avocado onto a bed of fresh greens, embodying the diner’s commitment to generous portions and flavor. The BBQ Ranch Salad, boasting crispy onion rings and rich cheddar, melds Southern comfort with fresh ingredients, while the Fried Chicken Salad promises a satisfying crunch paired with garden-fresh vegetables.

Visitors rave about the extensive menu variety—from breakfast classics like a colossal 6-egg omelette to indulgent burgers, sandwiches, and even Mexican options. One customer reminisced about perfectly cooked chicken fried chicken accompanied by creamy mashed potatoes and vibrant spinach, expressing delight in both the portion size and the meal’s richness. The sheer volume and variety mean there’s truly something for everyone, whether you crave savory diner fare or flavorful Mediterranean dishes.

The atmosphere at Sam’s No. 3 is as lively as its menu. The restaurant buzzes with the friendly clatter of a true neighborhood diner—loud, warm, and inviting. Cool, eclectic decor and energetic music make every visit feel like a mini celebration, while the staff’s genuine friendliness creates a welcoming vibe that keeps locals and tourists coming back. Despite this hustle and bustle, cleanliness and attentiveness do not waver, with spotless restrooms and speedy, precise service being regular highlights. One guest even marveled at how quickly the food arrived, comparing the experience to a scene from a beloved film where meals magically appear seconds after ordering.

Whether you're seeking a robust, comforting breakfast to start your day or a satisfying lunch with flair, Sam’s No. 3 delivers an authentic, soul-satisfying diner experience that’s woven into Denver’s vibrant dining tapestry. The generous portions, tasty surprises like their Greek specialties, and a bona fide diner vibe make it a must-visit for anyone craving honest American comfort food with a twist.

Popular, noisy, authentic diner. The portions are large, the selection is large and varies from everything for breakfast to burgers and sandwiches, to Mexican options. I had the chicken fried chicken with mashed potatoes and spinach and it was very good. My family also enjoyed a Reuben, a burger, and the chicken enchiladas and we all cleaned our plates.

Service was very friendly from host to table side waiter. Food was average. Not sure what happened, but burger doneness was swapped between my wife and I. Side salad was a generous portion with plenty of vegetables and plenty of dressing on the side. They actually ran out of French fries and swapped that with tater tots. Tater tots were nothing inspirational. Burger was just average. Staff was attentive and friendly. My party order hamburger without tomato and attentively did not include tomato for side salad. Way to be attentive!

Food was ok. We had BLT and Avocado Toast with eggs. I also had the turkey sausage patties and they were great for turkey sausage! The Bacon on the BLT was very fatty. And the Avocado toast was a little cold. Would of been nice if it were warm. Both the avocado and the eggs. They had a very large selection of food with decent pricing.

We visited yesterday. We haven’t been here in probably 20 years and it’s fairly close to our son’s place so we gave it a go. It was loud and warm on a chilly afternoon and very inviting. The music is just bangin’. The restroom I used was clean. The folks were friendly. The guys enjoyed their meals. We had a patty melt with tots, a giant 6 egg omelette with hashbrowns and I had their version of a Monte Cristo. Everything was good except my meal. Undercooked French toast is gross. It was so soggy. it made me gag. I attempted to just take off the top piece of bread that was truly inedible for me, however the cheese adhered to half the sandwich, and it was a lost cause. Didn’t even eat half my sandwich. And listen, these things happen. I would have told our server and gotten something else, as I was very hungry, but she was also the bartender (another thing, they sat us way back in the bar yet we passed clean booths as we walked through the original restaurant.) So anyway, I ate what I could and told her when she came to get our payment. (It stinks when your service isn’t attentive. If the bartender is busy, then an actual server should be assigned to us. They were in the bar waiting on other tables.) I was not offended in the LEAST when I told her I couldn’t eat my meal and she took $2 off my $20 meal. That was still on my plate. Nope. Not at all. I just smiled and we left. Never to visit again. Which is a bummer but I’m not going to patronize a business that clearly does not care if their product is a good one. Like I said, bad meals happen but the way our server handled the situation was not at all what I expected from a downtown staple. We travel and eat out A LOT. This was an unexpected response. Literally better to do nothing or ask if I would care to speak to a manager, yeah? To pay $70-80 for BREAKFAST and then I have to eat when we got home…. Tsk tsk.

Remember that movie “Defending your Life” where he orders food and it comes out in seconds? Yeah that’s what happened to me! Insane fast! Shout out to the amazing cooks - food was perfection. Kevin’s service was also perfection. Great value for cost. Clean in every corner. Love how everyone has cool shirts on, all the artwork is super cool. Great vibe and music. TV’s. A Denver staple.

Let’s start with, the food here was absolutely amazing! Unfortunately, it was fairly loud, making it hard to talk even just one person over. And because they were so busy, we visited on a Saturday around brunch, we didn’t feel like we had prompt service. We were seated relatively quickly, and the food was out incredibly fast. But we waited for 15+ mins to get the check and boxes. We will likely return, but plan to get to go instead

My boyfriend and I had an amazing dinner and experience here! Jaime made sure we were well taken care of and comfortable. She went above and beyond for us. The food and atmosphere here were amazing! My boyfriend had the chicken fried steak (7/10) with spinach (10/10) I had the Red chili burger (7/10). She made sure to give me an extra mini-kettle for an extra cup of tea and a good variety of different flavors of tea. We both had a cherry pie for dessert and it was AMAZING! (10/10) VERY delightful experience overall. I would highly recommend them for a date night, or family gathering.

While visiting Denver I was craving cornbeef hash with eggs and found this cool diner who served that. I came on sat noon and the place was crowded. I sat right away on the bar and the bartender was great and helped me right away. The food was good and service was excellent. The place is huge and I loved the style. Overall I had a great experience and I would recommend this place. If you in downtown Denver and looking for good breakfast I would definitely visit this place. Hope that helped...
